Sometimes itís easy to stick to the varietals we know best, like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but last week the experts at Chanís Wine World were reminded that a little venture out of the norms can also pay off.
With the visit of the winery representative, we sampled 7/7, or siete siete in Spanish. The name refers to the town where the wine is produced and to its seven towers, seven churches, seven trees... you get the idea! The wine is a somewhat equal blend of Verdejo and Viura, two grapes that grow well in the flatlands around Valladolid. It offers a nose of white flowers and peaches and a pretty clear color. On the mouth, you get an explosion of citrus and on the palate, a feeling of fresh fruit. 7/7 is easily a best buy as the wine sells for $9.99 a bottle.
And with a rating of 89-90/100, thereís not much competition in that style for this price. Try it with a Gorgonzola salad with sweet pecans or a chicken, orzo and tomato stew. For more information visit any Chanís Wine World location in Destin and South Walton.
