Originally opened as A Few Good Apples three years ago, owner Jeremy Price found a change might be in order as his hottest-selling menu item was consistently his Philly cheesesteak.

Price did some tweaking of his menu and reopened his Seagrove eatery Feb. 4 as South of Philly, specializing in Phillys, burgers, and more.

"Since the biggest selling item was our Philly cheesesteak, we just changed our menu to gravitate more toward what our customers wanted, and decided a name change would be appropriate," he said.

However, visitors to the beach who are staying for a length of time won't become bored if they decide to pop in and eat with Price every day. In addition to his most popular Philly cheesesteak, he also offers a Philly chicken cheesesteak, both of which are served with American cheese; onions, and peppers or mushrooms may be added. There are also gyros, and burgers may be ordered in the barbecue bacon, mush Swiss, Mexicali, or blue cheese varieties.

There are also quesadillas offered with steak or chicken, pico, or queso cheese.

Pulled-pork tacos are served with slaw or melted cheese, and Caribbean shrimp tacos come with slaw and roasted red peppers.

Wraps are available with chicken, smoked turkey, smoked tuna, or chicken curry.

Soups alternate daily between tomato basil, roasted red pepper, black bean and sausage, chili, white chicken chili, and spinach and chick pea.

Mediterranean and garden salads are also available, as are sides of chips and dip, and a kids' menu.

Drop in for breakfast for a breakfast wrap, breakfast burrito, Belgian waffle, a biscuit or bagel.

And when it's time for a snack, South of Philly has it covered with smoothies, soft-serve ice cream, frozen yogurt, shakes, or parfaits.

Price knows how to ignite interest with names like "Puppy Love" for his strawberry shortcake with cream; "Obsession" for his key lime delight; and "Fatal Attraction" for, what else, but a one-of-a-kind chocolate cake.

This is Price's first restaurant to own. The Pennsylvania native came to South Walton by way of Minnesota and worked as a youth counselor when he first relocated.

"I always wanted to give something like this a shot. I knew the former owner of this space and knew he wanted to sell and went for it. I love it," he said.
