Brookdale Senior Living and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort invite the public to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sept. 29. The walk will begin at Baytowne Marina at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Participants will have one-mile and three-mile course options.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, the world’s largest voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed. Based on mortality data from 2000-2008, death rates have declined for most major diseases while deaths from Alzheimer’s disease have risen 66 percent during the same period.
For more information about the walk or donations, call Carly Maddux at 267-1600, or search the Walton County Walk to End Alzheimer’s at alz.org.
