The Perfect Pig opened last July at the Market Shops at Sandestin, but now the business is "coming home" to 30A.
Owners Jeff and Vickie Miller have lived on 30A for more than a decade and feel very much at home in their new location at 4281 E. County Road 30A in Seagrove.
The move to the new location gave the Millers more room and the ability to expand from a gourmet deli to a deli/restaurant/and bar.
Now open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, the small and intimate eatery that Vickie describes as a cross between Napa and the South of France offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus that might be viewed as gourmet American.
On the breakfast menu, diners will have a difficult time deciding between bourbon-salted pancakes, or vanilla pancakes with honey butter, Belgian waffles with blackberry syrup, Dutch babies topped with blueberries and dusted with powdered sugar, baked eggs with herbs and parmesan cheese, a butter croissant filled with spiral ham and apple butter, a spiral sliced ham brie and orange marmalade panini, or ham biscuit with blackberry mustard. Creamy Southern-style grits and assorted flavored butters also may be ordered.
The decisions don't get any easier come lunch time with items such as a bacon-wrapped hickory-smoked chicken sandwich; a pulled pork barbecue sandwich; a parmesan-crusted grilled cheese with tomatoes mozzarella, and pesto; a bacon blue sandwich with pesto; chicken tortilla soup; or a ham and apple arugula salad with toasted pecan and house dressing available for the asking.
Beer, wine, and champagne is served by the glass or bottle.
While waiting for your order to be prepared, Vickie makes the wait thoroughly enjoyable as she visits with each guest. Or diners can shop the shelves stocked with gourmet jellies, glazes, pretzels, chips, olives, and pancake mixes.
Ham and pork is also available to order by the pound to take home.
Vickie said being at the new location has been amazing.
"We opened here in mid-November after doing some painting and remodeling and added some chandeliers to the beautiful bones that were already here. Even in the off season, locals, as well as out of towners found us," she said.
As for the gourmet menu, Vickie designed all except the barbecue, as she knew just what she wanted.
The barbecue comes from a three-time world champion pit master, and it is what she calls their signature dish.
Vickie owned a catering company in Atlanta prior to moving to South Walton.
"Our Chef Jose Arrieta took my recipes and transferred them into what could be served in a restaurant setting," she explained.
Her favorite dish is a toss up between the baked eggs and the parmesan crusted grilled cheese.
"I wanted it to feel here like it would if you came to my house as a guest," she said.
