Last weekend kicked off two successive weekends of wine in South Walton. For those who didn't choose to do the wine thing last weekend, it was a gorgeous day for the beach.

Cafe Thirty-A kicked the weekend off with a talk by Sacred Heart Hospital heart experts last Thursday night on heart health. Keith and RoseAnn Knight, Heavenly and Bill Dawson, Harriet Crommelin, Rusty and Barbara Wharton were some of the 25 or so who enjoyed the talk as well as the heart-healthy hors d'oeuvres and wine. I also saw Hank White there.

Sirens at the Beach lingerie held a one-year anniversary open house and trunk show, also last Thursday night, at their Grayton Beach store. Steve Barber, Lauren Carvalho and Lauren Gall were some who were there shopping, enjoying the hors d'oeuvres and wine, and meeting the British designer from Shell Belle Couture.

I saw Georgeia Johnson at the Destin Woman's Club yard sale last Saturday morning, and Ron Green at Home Depot.

Last weekend's weather was so gorgeous that many took advantage of it and went to the beach and/or pool. I saw John Stasko, Joe and Kathy Perry, Sarah Markey, Jennifer Yon and son Luke, Lorene Gruzdis, and Pam Holloway and her family at the Santa Rosa Beach Club pool.

The Vue on 30a won a 2013 Diner's Choice Award on Open Table for "Best Ambiance." Congratulations!

Congratulations to Santa Rosa Beach's Cory Pickos, who was inducted into the Water Skiing Hall of Fame this week!

Some of us watched new area couple Deas and Jennifer Nealy on House Hunters last Friday night as the show tracked them during their search for a home on 30A. The couple bought a three-story overlooking the dunes and Gulf in Grayton Beach. Welcome!

Sandestin resident Peggy Sue Mullen got a thrill when she visited the Great Wall of China.

Lorene Gruzdis hosted her sister and brother-in-law (Imogene and Jim Watterson) from Atlanta last week. They visited Lori Drew's art studio and toured the Gulf Place homes of Sarah and David Woodall and John Spencer and Christine Agnew.

Sympathy is expressed to Chick Huettel in the death of his niece.

Wish a "happy birthday" today to fellow Taureans Tony Riggerio, Realtor Alice Forrester, and Sandestin's Jim Lockwood.

Tomorrow to Jane Krimbell, and Patti Johnson.

Wednesday to John Rosenberg, artist Sherry McCall, photographer Richard Sexton, and Kassie Zukowski.

And Friday to architect Marieanne Khourey-Vogt, Miffie Hollyday, Rebecca Sullivan, Realtor Clayton Bonjean, Dudley Cook, Sandestin's Ampy Cox, Donna Gibson, and Cindy McConnell.
