Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club recently announced the expansion of its membership, with the addition of over 30-plus membership upgrades and nearly 30 new Equity Members, as well as the large increase to their junior membership, with numbers almost doubling over the last two months.
The membership increase is a result of significant, recent enhancements to the golf course, along with operational improvements both under the direction of the Board of Directors and Professional Golf Management.
Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club was established in 1969 in a concrete block building bearing little resemblance to the sophisticated structure that currently sits directly on the beach south side of 30A. The golf club started as a nine-hole course, built by the members, and later transformed into 18 holes designed by Roy Albert Anderson. The course beautifully carves through the natural surroundings of the local area.
The club has always been owned by the Equity Members, a unique membership experience. Equity Members, through the board, direct the operations of the club and have a say-so in the plans for the future of the business.
“The experience as an Equity owner is unparalleled to any other club experience in the surrounding area,” says Lesan Gouge, Marketing and Membership Director.
Membership has its rewards, as the member and their families are entitled to preferential rates and tee times, unlimited golf course use and exclusive participation in major club tournaments. Equity Members are also afforded the opportunity to walk the golf course and participate in a range membership for a nominal fee. An Equity Member also has the exclusive opportunity to pass the membership down to immediate family for a small transfer fee, allowing the membership legacy to be continued.
“Here, membership is a lifestyle,” Lesan said.
For the golfer, the 18-hole, par-72 course offers a challenge from five sets of tees for those of every skill level or handicap. Holes three through five, wind around a complex of dunes and within a few hundred yards of the Gulf of Mexico. Referred to as the “Purest Golf in the Florida Panhandle,” by Golf Magazine, the course offers a fair challenge and unique character only found among the the Santa Rosa Beach area. The course boasts some of the only elevation changes in the area and takes golfers from the clubhouse to the Gulf and back through the natural areas that enhance the uniqueness of the course.
In addition to the course, the club also offers golf instruction from Class A PGA professionals that can be tailored for individuals or groups looking to improve their game. The golf professionals use a state-of-the-art V1 teaching system that allows lessons to be recorded and sent easily electronically. The club also has an indoor teaching facility that can be used in unfavorable weather.
Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club truly embraces the club atmosphere and offers many opportunities to new guests and members alike. The Gulf view pool and private beach are popular amenities for those looking to enjoy the sunshine, swim, or congregate with friends.
“Each evening a breathtaking sunset is best enjoyed on the terrace or at the club restaurant, Vue on 30a, where happy hour is daily and the cuisine, prepared by Chef Giovanni Filipponi, is arguably the best in the area,” Lesan said.
Vue on 30a has been awarded, "Best Ambiance" from Open Table Diners, "Best Place to Watch A Sunset" readers of Destin Magazine, "Best Waterfront Dining" by Florida Life + Travel Magazine, "Restaurant of the Year" from the Beachcomber and Chef Gio has been voted as a "Best Chef America" by his fellow culinary peers.
The club also holds special events and theme parties throughout the year that encourage new members to mix with longtime members. Many events are geared toward families such as the Easter Egg Hunt, July 4th Extravaganza and annual Beach Bonfire in the Fall, among many others. Other social events include cooking classes with Chef Gio, mixology classes with bartenders, live music, and much more.
"The experience here at the Club is unparalleled to anything else in this area — from the amazing Gulf views, to the active golf groups, and the camaraderie of the membership. It's truly one-of-a-kind,” Lesan said.
