Paul Balentine, Jr.



Mr. Paul Balentine, Jr. 63, passed away June 8, 2013. He was born Sept. 11, 1949, in DeFuniak Springs to Paul Balentine, Sr. and Bertha Burns Balentine.



Mr. Balentine was a resident of Freeport, Baptist by faith and a member of East Baptist Church. He graduated from Walton High School in 1967. A veteran of the Vietnam Era, Mr. Balentine served his country in the United States Marine Corp and received two purple hearts and a bronze star for his service in combat.



He graduated from Gulf Coast College receiving his Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement. He enjoyed coaching football and playing softball and providing the mascot for the Freeport Bulldogs. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.



He worked as a school resource officer for many years and enjoyed helping the children. He was also an avid Florida Gator and Miami Dolphins fan. He also worked as a deputy for the Walton County Sherriff’s Department for many years.



Mr. Balentine was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allen Rhodes.



Mr. Balentine is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Janice Balentine of Freeport; son, Gregory Balentine and wife Elizabeth of Kentucky; brother, Robert Rhodes and wife Cindy of Dorcas, Fla.; sister, Rebecca Gregory of DeFuniak Springs; grandchildren, Greggory Balentine, Brenden Balentine, Christopher Balentine, Christina Balentine, David Balentine; father- and mother-in-law, Edward and Betty Tucholski; niece, Bethany Gregory; and many other nieces and nephews.



Visitation services will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 13 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave. In DeFuniak Springs.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. June 14 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Glenn officiating.



Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, with military honors.



Floral arrangements are being accepted.

Mrs. Essie Dell Reeves



Mrs. Essie Dell Reeves, 75, passed away June 8, 2013. She was born March 26, 1938, in Bonifay, Fla., to Henry and Lily Mae Robins.



Mrs. Reeves had been a resident of Rocky Bayou. She was Church of God by faith and a member of the Niceville Church of God.



She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family.



Mrs. Reeves is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Myrtice, Sue and Dorothy.



Mrs. Reeves is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Glenn Reeves of Bluewater Bay; sons, William Reeves and wife, Kathleen of Columbus, Ga., Larry Reeves and wife, Lynn of Dade City, Fla., and Steve Reeves of Freeport, Fla.; brothers, Jerry Earl Robins and Cecil Robins, both of Slocomb, Ala.; and five grandchildren.



A time of visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. June 11 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home, 150 East Hwy. 20 in Freeport.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. June 11 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. William Nester officiating.



Floral arrangements are being accepted.



Burial will follow in the Hatcher Cemetery.
