Seaside Repertory Theatre kicked off its 12th season last week with the opening of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskerville" on its main stage.

"Hound" stars the theater's executive director, Brook Stetler, as well as Alan Daugherty and Kyle Walter.

Conan Doyle’s most celebrated Sherlock Holmes story gets what is described as "a gloriously funny makeover" at Seaside Rep.

The stage is set when Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate with a look of terror still etched on his face and the paw prints of a gigantic hound beside his body. The great detective Sherlock Holmes is summoned from Baker Street with Dr. Watson in tow, to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death and investigate the ancient curse of the "Hound of the Baskervilles."

"Hound" will be performed throughout the summer, Thursdays through Saturdays through Aug. 3 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are $30.

Following "Hound" with a musical twist last week was a kickoff of the Bryan Kennedy concerts.

Kennedy, along with a guest, performs every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. until the end of July, a run of seven weeks.

Long-time Seaside Rep performer Kevin Boyle stood in as his sidekick last week, but Kennedy will bring a different musical guest with him for each performance. One of those will include local celebrity Duke Bardwell. Tickets are $25.

Not to leave out the kiddies, children's performances are Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The Monday performances take place in Seaside's amphitheater and Wednesdays, the Rep performs in Rosemary Beach. Both are free.

"James and the Giant Peach" is Monday's performance and Wednesday's is "The Amazing Adventures of the Marvelous Monkey King."

If your children like theater and performing, and are creative, Seaside Rep invites you to join the theater's Camp Showtime, where they can learn the basics of improv, creating scene work and characters. Children ages 8 to 14 will also learn different types of improv formats and structures.

For adults, Improv Hour is performed at 9:30 p.m. each Friday and Saturday night at the Meeting Hall Theater following "Hound." Tickets are $10.

As a special treat, during the week of July 4, the Rep will present the second-annual Low Country Comedy Tour at the Meeting Hall Theater. Tickets are $20. Check www.seasiderep.org for varying times.

Managing Director Lisa Connell said the Seaside Rep team is looking forward to a stellar season with sold-out performances.
