Exciting programs are upcoming at the Coastal Branch Library of Walton County. The Friends of the Coastal Branch's artist of the month for July is Emily Ellis. Emily works through a variety of media including acrylic, pastel, watercolor and photography. "The natural world" is her foremost source of inspiration.

"This show 'Decadal Evolution' will give me the opportunity to display a range of works highlighting four decades of selected art," Ellis said. She has a studio called 'Desire to Inspire' on her property north of Lake Powell.

The Gladys N. Milton Memorial Library located in Paxton is creating a local organization to assist their development. The Friends of the Coastal Branch is happy to support this endeavor by donating a portion of the books left from its May Book Sale to them. Be on the lookout for upcoming events at the Paxton Branch.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors Reading Program continues at 10 a.m. on Mondays, July 1, 8, 15, and 22, in the community room of the Coastal Library. Reading canine friends, Sydney and Duffy, with their certified handlers, are here to listen as children read their stories.

There are three summer reading challenges for kids ages 1-18. Finish your reading logs for a chance to win great prizes, including a girl's and boy's bike donated by Larry Jones and Ronnie Bell, and an mp3 player.

Tai-chi for arthritis is offered on Wednesdays, 1-2 p.m. for adults 60 and older, with Anna Dyess, health certified instructor. No registration is required and the class is free.

High school students who are interested in volunteer hours for Bright Futures or other scholarship programs are welcome at the Walton County Coastal Library during business hours. For more information call Linda Thompson at 850-267-2809.
