With a craft beer boom sweeping the country, the Village of Baytowne Wharf invites you to come celebrate suds at the 6th Annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival Oct. 18-19.
Known as the "Best Beer Fest on the Emerald Coast," the fall tradition will feature an array of specialty beers from around the United States, whether it's a creamy stout an American lager or a hoppy IPA.
All told, this year's event will feature more than 200 varieties of beer from 40 breweries to whet your palate. Whether you are a novice or an aficionado, there is something for everyone.
Brewery representatives will be available at the event, offering an opportunity to learn about the different types of lagers and ales from a variety of styles. Featured breweries this year include the likes of Oskar Blues, Shipyard, Pensacola Bay Brewery, Abita, Stone, New Belgium, NOLA, Bells, and Sierra Nevada to name a few.
Serving as the kick-off for the Baytowne Beer Festival, barbeque lovers are invited to come out for Marlin Grill's “Beer from Around Here event," a beer walkabout and menu pairing Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. The event pairs gourmet meats and side dishes with the best local brews the Southeast has to offer. Tickets are $35.
New this year will be a feature presentation Friday night by Julia Rutland, senior food editor of Coastal Living Magazine. Taking place on the event's plaza stage, Rutland will demonstrate easy and delicious recipes that feature beer.
"We’re thrilled to have so many new activities this year," said Lanier Motes, events manager at Baytowne. "I’m looking forward to Julia’s demo on Friday night and the brand new cigar tent on Saturday. Not to mention we have a variety of new beers to try this year."
Live music will be featured throughout the weekend, courtesy of Denton Hatcher and the Soapbox Blues, which play from 2-4 p.m. and The Modern Eldorados from 4-6 p.m. at the Event Plaza.
Tickets for the Saturday beer tasting event (2-6 p.m.) are on sale for $25 per person until Oct. 18. After the 18th, tickets can be purchased the day of the event for $30. Don't forget to purchase your tickets early, as the Beer Festival has sold out in years past. For more information on the festival, visit www.baytownebeerfestival.com.
As one of Baytowne's most popular events, Motes says "It’s hard to compete with a beautiful October day at Baytowne Wharf learning about beer. When you add in seeing friends and the ability to walk back to your room after the event, I understand why people return every year."
The annual Village of Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival will feature more than 40 breweries and 200 varieties of beer. Tickets are available for $25 in advance or $30 the day of the event.
