Mary Pender Derck
Mrs. Mary Pender Derck, 60, passed away Nov. 6, 2013. She was born Aug. 29, 1953 in Marianna, Fla., to Robert Pender and Evelyn Thomas Pender.
Mrs. Derck was Methodist by faith and a member of Point Washington United Methodist Church. She was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Ga., receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. She owned and operated Uptown Girls, Lilly Pads and Goodie 2 Shoes in Grayton Beach. She was very experienced in fashion design and interior design. She was a very talented cook and greatly enjoyed her work.
Mrs. Derck is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Thomas Pender.
Mrs. Derck is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Tony D. Derck of Santa Rosa Beach; father, Robert R. Pender of Seagrove Beach; sons, Keanen Derck of Santa Rosa Beach, Daniel Derck of Hicksville, Ohio; daughter, Tracey Harris and husband Philip of Atlanta; brothers, Bob Pender Jr. of Marianna, John Pender of Atlanta; and sister, Evelyn A. Pender of Tallahassee.
A time of visitation will be held from 1-11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Point Washington United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Point Washington Methodist Church with the Rev. Spencer Turnipseed officiating.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or donations may be made to Emerald Coast Oncology at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
Burial will follow in the Gulf Cemetery.

Julius Kenneth Cooey
Mr. Julius Kenneth Cooey, 67, passed away Nov. 6, 2013. He was born Nov. 23, 1946, in Homes County to Vergel and Virginia Cooey.
Mr. Cooey was Baptist by faith and a member of Westville Baptist Church. He was also a member of Panama City Beach Mason Lodge # 358. He owned Cooey’s Trucking, Inc. of Freeport for more than 25 years, serving all of Walton and surrounding counties.
Mr. Cooey was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Lee Cooey.
Mr. Cooey is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy Sowell Cooe; daughters, Freda Cooey and fiancé Jimmy Lemaire, Priscilla Cooey; brother, Tom Kenney Cooey and wife Glenda Cooey, all of Freeport; granddaughter,r Cheyenne Lemaire; nieces, Penney Brooks and husband Roy, Barbara Edwards; great-niece, Jade Edwards; and great-nephew, Koleman Brooks.
Visitation services will be held freom 6-8 p.m. Nov. 7 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs, with the Rev. Mike McVey officiating.
Burial will follow at Westville Cemetery, Masonic Rites.
