December is an exciting time for the Walton County Coastal Branch Library. The branch will begin opening on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Dec. 7.
The Friends of the Coastal Branch Library are pleased about December’s featured artist, photographer Dave Sullivan. Dave was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and studied in Santa Fe, N.M. In the 1980s when he moved to Dallas, he began using his spare time to shoot pictures with his 35mm camera.
A few years ago Sullivan purchased a digital camera and began to study the features it offered. He found a way to adapt the lens from his film camera to the digital camera for more flexible shooting opportunities. Adding a telescope has greatly increased Dave’s photography inspiration as he travels across the country.
Most of Sullivan’s images are of nature including landscapes, plants and animals. Striving to make art through photography, Dave uses no enhancing software. His work is natural with only slight crops, or color to black and white conversions. Contact Dave Sullivan through email@example.com.
Don’t forget that the Coastal Branch is now connected to the Florida Electronic Library. This access provides free resources to our branch. There are many sites to assist you in achieving success in school, business, and life.
The Coastal Branch continues to host “Tail Waggin’ Tutors” from 3-4:30 p.m. every Tuesday in December. This is a children’s reading incentive program presented by Therapy Dogs, internationally trained and certified reading dogs along with their handlers. Lego Club continues to meet from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays in the community room. Emerald Coast Hospice Hour is from 2-3 p.m. Dec. 18 with hospice specialist, Diana Skinner.
Mark your calendars for the Christmas Treat Exchange. Bring in two dozen homemade Christmas treats to exchange with others from 7-8 p.m. Dec. 19.
