In an effort to promote public transportation along 30A, Santa Rosa Beach's Sunshine Shuttle & Limousine provided a free trolley along the Scenic Highway during New Year's Eve.
Stopping at The Pearl in Rosemary Beach, V Restaurant in Seagrove, Grayton Bar & Grill, The Red Bar in Grayton, and Redd's Fueling Station in Blue Mountain, the trolley was met with “miles of smiles” from the estimated 50 riders who hopped aboard, according to Alan Roberts of Sunshine Shuttle.
Visitors and South Walton natives toured the trolley at each stop, which was equipped with a surround sound system and festive holiday lights. While this was a one-night only occasion, many are hopeful such a system can be commonplace on a road dominated by cars.
"Public transportation is crucial for any area to keep up with growth," said Atlanta native Joe Wilkins outside Pandora's. "I would definitely visit more if I didn't need a car to get around down here."
