Lottie “Maw” Bryant
A loving mother was gently lifted into the arms of Jesus with her babies, Phyllis and Wayne, waiting for her in heaven, and Steve by her side. Welcoming her to her new home was her true love, her "Gene."
Lottie N. Bryant, a resident of the Fort Walton Beach, Fla., area for more than 40 years, was born the second daughter of nine children into the union of Mitchell and Nellie Muncie Neal in Irvine, Ky. There she enjoyed her childhood of the changing seasons, family togetherness and spiritual upbringing. This early foundation strengthened her belief in her Lord, Jesus Christ that carried her though life in some of the most difficult of times.
Lottie was most proud to be a mother and homemaker. Learning to make biscuits at the age of five "at her daddy's knees," she was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Her home was a showplace that she took pride in, where she welcomed all to enter.
A dedicated Air Force wife, she traveled to places she could have never imagined and maintained the home front while her husband served our country. She witnessed the baptism of her children in 1968 when their dad, her husband, served in Vietnam.
A small, petite lady who never hesitated to say she loved you or to tell you how it was. She will be greatly missed.
Lottie was preceded in death by her husband, her "Gene" Simon W. Bryant; her babies, Phyllis A. Herrin and Mitchell Wayne Bryant; her beloved parents; sisters, Delois and Carolynn Neal; and her "Bubby," Ike Neal.
She is survived by her son, Steve Friend of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Grant (Amy) Meyer of Niceville, Hope Marie Bryant of Santa Rosa Beach, Jason (Amanda) Meyer of State College, Pa., Charles Simon Bryant of Manassas, Va., and Anna Bryant of Fort Walton Beach; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Harley Meyer of Niceville, Tristan and Harrison Meyer of State College; bonus grandchildren, Samantha Baylor, Kendall and Kenny Patterson; sisters, Geraldine "Sis" (Dennis) Campbell, Helen Merrell of Irvine, Pearlie(Luther) Sparks of Richmond, Ind., Patty (Carl) Whitt of Winchester, Ky.; brother, Marvin (Elva) Neal of Irvine; daughter-in-law, Joann Bryant of Fort Walton Beach; loving Aunts, Gladys Alcorn and Helen Long of Irvine; longtime friends, Kathy and Richard Cothern of Fairview, Tenn., and Phyllis and Chuck McClenahan of Fort Walton Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear and loving friends.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
A celebration of a Christian life will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 in the Chapel of Emerald Coast Funeral Home, with brother Marvin Neal of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church, Irvine, and Pastor Larry Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Michael Given for his compassion and love he showed to our mom.
Lottie found beauty in nature so floral offerings are acceptable or donations may be given in her name and daughter's name to the Northwest Florida Lupus Foundation.
