Rachael Stevenson spotted this man o war on Sandestin's beach this week. She said it was the size of a football. Reports have come in up and down the beach in Northwest Florida of Portuguese man o' war washing up on the beach. According to Destin Beach Safety Lifeguard Chris Lambert while not uncommon, these purple blobs are "much larger than usual." He added "Their air sacs are usually the size of a man's thumb, but the ones beached right now are much larger, with some the size of water bottles. Even though they are dead the tentacles can still sting, so wear shoes."
