The A was abuzz with activity last weekend, as well as the sounds of music wafting through the air.
The Vue had two acts going Saturday night. Rick and Karen Schoonover, Dave Waddle, John and Katie Stasko, Tracy and Kevin Louthain, Brian and Kathy Haugen, Tom and Dana Saffel, Redd and Paul Vizard were there to take them in.
Lots of locals packed the house to take in the Dread and the scene at The Red Bar Sunday afternoon. I can attest to the fact that Dread rocked it and had the crowd on their feet. Fabulous job! David Bludworth, Ladie Bea and Wayne Carlisle, David and Sally Smith, Dwight Ward, William Schissler, and Mark Thompson were there. Thanks for great service, Stacey.
Locals turned out en masse again Sunday night for the screening of the documentary film on Duke Bardwell, "Duke & The King" at Seaside Repertory Theatre. Tom and Dana Saffel, Suzette DeJarnette, Linda and Fred Buehler, Sarah Modica, Claire Bannerman, and Terry Olive were some who packed the full house. Kris Wheeler did a fabulous job of presenting Duke's story. Then, to hear Duke perform "Bayou Country" live was the perfect finale.
Stacey and Mike Brady saw Suzanne Vega at Gulf Place.
Kenda Jordan and Leslie Provow enjoyed Mary Chapin Carpenter's performance at Gulf Place.
Wine Women & Shoes kicked off its upcoming signature event with a Sole Sisters Luncheon last Thursday.
Kelsey McHargue, Sandy and Greig Buckley, Malpa and Demetrius Fuller, Lorre James, Demetria McNeese, Kay Phelan, Tim Krueger, Jennifer Howard, Tricia Chason, Gena Bolton, Steve Barber, Leah Capers, Barbara Lovell, Dennis Lichorwic, Jeanette Miller, Pam Wellborn, Lynn Dugas, and Peggy Adams were among those who were treated to a preview of things to come. The crème brulee was superb.
John Stasko hosted a small cocktail party at his home last Saturday night to welcome his youngest daughter, Katie, who flew in for the weekend from St. Louis.
It was good to see Susan Benton, Jim Shirley, Pam Thompson, Pam Avera, Charles Modica, Sarah Modica and her grandson from Birmingham last Wednesday at the opening of The Art of Simple in Seaside.
Prudence Bruns visited Anne Hunter in SoHo, as did Jenifer Kuntz, and Paige Schnell is on her way!
30A locals Wayne and Valerie Lofton are celebrating the grand opening of their new restaurant, Cole Creek Catfish take-out restaurant in Springfield between Panama City and Parker on Transmitter Road.
The Vue on 30A announces that its Chef Giovanni Filippone has been selected for inclusion in the 2013 edition of Best Chefs America. Best Chefs America is the first peer-review guide to chefs, profiling top chefs and their restaurants. Visit www.bestchefsamerica.com. Wow!
