PALO ALTO, CALIF. — ObamaCare has blown up so dramatically that al-Qaida might try to take credit for it. It’s so bad Obama’s political team has floated the idea of re-naming it “BidenCare.”
Obama knowingly lied to the American people about ObamaCare because he knew he could not sell it with the truth. “You can keep your doctor and your insurance if you like them” has been revealed as a premeditated lie. And an even bigger lie: Family healthcare premiums would go down by $2,500 a year.
What he didn’t fib about, Obama sugarcoated. Given the nation’s wanton obesity levels, he knew Americans would swallow anything with sugar on it.
The truth is that you can keep your insurance — if Obama likes it. The one-size-fits-all insurance plans offered fit the government’s need, not the customer’s. This is thinly disguised redistribution of wealth to the moochers who support Obama; in essence, it’s health redistribution.
More people have lost their insurance coverage than have signed up for ObamaCare. The only folks who can keep their current insurance are members of Congress and the administration, who exempted themselves.
The website debacle is a minor issue. They will get that fixed. Obama says he is mobilizing his nerds and it will be fixed in weeks. You just know that government can fix things in mere weeks; keep in mind, we still have troops in Germany.
ObamaCare is an illustration of how government couldn’t even run a church bake sale. Six people signed up for ObamaCare on the first day, “Enrollment Friday,” which was followed by “Identity Thief Saturday.”
Obama says he would have taken care of this website issue had he only known. Our president has been too busy not knowing about Benghazi, IRS auditing his enemies, “Operation Fast and Furious,” the wiretapping of Fox/AP reporters, NSA spying on Americans, and how many Americans have successfully signed up for ObamaCare. Not knowing so much consumes a lot of his time these days.
Making matters worse, it takes time to defend what you didn’t know and explaining when you didn’t know it.
The best way to show why a bureaucracy does not work is to let people witness one. These are people who see a banana peel 20 yards ahead of them and say, “Oh darn, here we go again.”
Throw in an underlying political agenda and it gets even worse. The Heathcare.gov website does ask you to register to vote. Guess who 95 percent of the moocher class will vote for. And we are paying for this “voter registration.”
Forcing everyone to buy the insurance the Democrats deem necessary reveals their arrogance; they know what is good for us better than we do. There are gentler forms of persuasion than 20,000 IRS agents making people buy something. It is called the free market. And the cool thing about the free market is that it is “free,” and was working just fine.
We should have learned all this by studying history. Authoritarian solutions in the form of forced compliance never work. The blunt hammer of government force is the very basis of ObamaCare.
Admittedly, health insurance could have been better. We have never had a truly free market medical insurance system. It was a quasi-monopoly in each state through licensing, insurance regulations and charters, and it existed under the thumb of state politicians. They did not want to give up that campaign donation honey hole or their power over an industry they can shake down for money.
The 51 percent of Americans who are conditioned to think the productive other 49 percent should take care of them don’t have the intelligence to understand the direction this sends the country. The details are not as interesting as Kanye West/Kim Kardashian’s latest engagement, so they don’t pay attention. It’s not, so they don’t.
The freeloaders want what they were promised by Obama, and they want it now. Their thinking goes something like, “Who cares about future generations? What have they ever done for us?”
Now with ObamaCare the Feds, via the IRS, will control twice as much of a family’s income. But don’t worry. If you like your current paycheck, Obama promises you can keep it — for now.
