Airport groundbreaking open to public
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Panama City-Bay County International Airport will be held at the construction site off County 388 on Nov. 1 with Gov. Charlie Crist as keynote speaker.
The public is invited to attend the event, which begins at 10 a.m., said Airport Authority spokesman Tom Slocum. Because of the lack of a parking lot at the construction site, motorists will be directed to park on the shoulder of County 388, and shuttle buses will take them to the ceremony. Slocum said anyone wishing to attend the ceremony should plan on getting to the staging areas, near the intersections of County 388 with State 77 and State 79, no later than 9:30 a.m.
Other speakers at the groundbreaking will include Joe Tannehill, chairman of the Airport Authority, and Airport Executive Director Randy Curtis.
