DeFuniak attorney suspended

Cobb one of 27 disciplined

The Florida Supreme Court in recent court orders disciplined 27 attorneys, disbarring 12, suspending eight and placing five on probation.

Jason Andrew Cobb, 1073 Caswell Road, DeFuniak Springs, is suspended for 90 days effective Sept. 19, following a Sept. 3 court order (Admitted to practice 1998). Upon reinstatement, Cobb was further placed on probation for three years.

Cobb pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance with intent to purchase, a felony. He was sentenced to five years probation, which included 11 months and 29 days in jail. Cobb was also negligent in the handling of a probate case. (Case Nos. SC08-2135 and SC09-1408)

Some attorneys received more than one form of discipline. Seven attorneys were publicly reprimanded. One was ordered to pay restitution.
As an official agency of the Florida Supreme Court, The Florida Bar and its Department of Lawyer Regulation are charged with administering a statewide disciplinary system to enforce Supreme Court rules of professional conduct for the 86,000-plus lawyers admitted to practice law in Florida. Since Aug. 1, 2007, case files have been posted to attorneys' individual Florida Bar profiles and may be reviewed at and/or downloaded from The Florida Bar's Web site, www.floridabar.org.
