Freeport's Nathan Hendrickson rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns in Friday's victory over Holmes County.

Freeport closes out perfect district season in style

The Freeport football team made school history last week and added to it Friday.

A week after the Bulldogs sealed their first district title in program history, Freeport clinched its first undefeated run through league play with a 52-35 victory over visiting Holmes County.

“We’re real happy with that,” Freeport coach Jim Anderson said. “Our goal was to win the district, and we wanted to win all our district games.”

Nathan Hendrickson had a monstrous rushing outing for Freeport (8-1, 8-0 District 1-A), which suffered its only loss of the season to Class 4A Milton in its season opener. The Bulldogs bulldozed through their district slate, winning every game by double-digits.

Hendrickson, the area’s leading rusher, added to his total with 230 more yards and he scored three times.

Cody Binder, making up the other half of Freeport’s lethal rushing duo, registered 117 yards and two touchdowns.

Cole Weeks connected on 11 of 14 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Ellington and Justin Farmer both caught touchdown passes.

Farmer also made a 20-yard field goal and connected on all seven of his point-after tries.
