Niceville's Davis commits to Huntingdon baseball
Citing his desire to attend a strong academic institution as well as continue his baseball career, Niceville senior Will Davis recently verbally committed to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
“It is a really good academic school, which was what my main focus was as far as picking a college,” Davis said. “Playing baseball is a perk.”
As a junior last season, Davis appeared in 10 games for the Eagles as a relief pitcher and compiled a 1-0 record with one save. Davis held opposing batters to a miniscule .193 batting average and allowed five walks in 15 innings pitched.
Davis, after first garnering Huntingdon’s interest last summer while competing in a showcase event, said the decision to commit to Huntingdon was much easier after visiting the campus and speaking with faculty and coaches.
“I really liked the atmosphere and the small-college feel,” Davis said.
Huntingdon College competes in the Great South Athletic Conference, where last season the Hawks posted a 26-15 record.
