Attempted arson in DeFuniak leaves investigators puzzled

DeFuniak Springs – Investigators have more questions than answers to a suspicious incident which took place just outside the DeFuniak Springs city limits early Friday morning.  Just before 6 a.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call concerning a fire at 88 Turner Drive.

Few details are being released, but an object broke through a sliding glass door to the home, which in turn ignited a small fire within the structure. Several occupants inside the residence were not injured, and the flames were quickly put out.

The Florida Fire Marshal’s office along with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is involved in the investigation.  If anyone may have information on this case, please contact the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at 892-8186.
