Dewey Rayford Prescott
Mr. Dewey Prescott, 83, passed away July 26, 2010. He was born March 5, 1927, in Holmes County, Florida to Walter and Ida Herring Prescott.
Mr. Prescott was a resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.He was a veteran of WWII, serving his country in the United States Army and United States Navy. He graduated from Walton High School in 1944. He worked as a mechanic with Rivard Chevrolet Company and also worked with Vitro for over 20 years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed working in his shop where he was known to fix or repair anything. He also enjoyed helping all of his neighbors.
Mr. Prescott was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Elma Rushing, and brothers, Richard and Lennie Prescott.
Mr. Prescott is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Noma Prescott; son, Richard Alan Prescott and wife Lou of Gallatin, Tenn.; daughter, Linda Prescott Delaune and husband John of Miramar Beach; brothers, Charlie Morse and wife Phyllis of DeFuniak Springs and Wayne Morse of North Carolina; sisters, Selma Prokop of Peekskill, NY and Jean Jimison of Crestview; grandchildren, Hampton Paulk and wife Holly, Chris Paulk and Niki Fields and Daniel Presott and wife Marianne; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Coppock and Anna Larson Stone.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. July 29 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave. in DeFuniak Springs.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. July 29 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Keppel officiating.
Interment will held in the Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or donations may be made to the Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center; 785 South 2nd St., DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 to the Dewey Prescott Memorial Fund.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
