Fort Walton Beach upends Crestview 3-1

Staff Reports

Harry Tomlinson helped account for all of Fort Walton Beach's goals as the Vikings took a 3-1 victory Thursday over Crestview in District 1-5A action.

Tomlinson had a goal and two assists for the Vikings (1-0, 1-0), while Austin Mulrain and Destin Deariso added a goal apiece. Caise Vickery chipped in an assist.

Fort Walton Beach goalie Josh Lawless had eight saves, and A.J. Newberry was cited for his defensive effort.

The Vikings play host to Escambia on Monday.

l Choctawhatchee 2, Mosley 1: Ricky Hoegg scored both of the Indians (3-0, 1-0 District 1-5A) goals and was backed by a strong defensive effort as Choctawhatchee picked up a third straight road win in a 2-1 victory at Mosley.

Goalie Tony Lenyo had 19 saves for the Indians while coach Chris McDaniel lauded the defensive effort of Jason Mills, Nick Steinke and Kody Clay.

The Indians return to action Monday when they travel to Pace.

l Niceville 8, Pine Forest 0: The Eagles (2-0, 2-0 District 1-5A) racked up the goals in the victory.

Tanner Duttweiler had a pair of goals and an assist, Pedro Alba scored twice, and Reed White, Justin Santasier, Ryan Riggs and Marcos Melecio-Zambrano added one goal apiece.

Noah Dutram and Santasier had two assists while Riggs and Shane Balkcom had one apiece.

Zack Plaice had three saves, and Jake Pratt was cited for his defense.

Niceville plays Tuesday at Crestview.

l Navarre 2, Pensacola 1: Nolan Collier and Eddie Arroyo each scored a goal - Arroyo's coming on an assist from Mitch Hagood - and Alex Grigsby had five saves to help the Raiders (1-1, 1-0 District 1-4A) win their district opener over Pensacola 2-1.

Navarre next plays on Monday at Milton.

 

Girls soccer

l Niceville 4, Pace 2: The Eagles (3-1, 2-0 District 1-5A) found themselves down 2-1 after 17 minutes had passed in the second half before making the comeback.

Marleigh Howard scored the team's first two goals while Lindsay Foy added the last two. Howard and Grace Sager both had assists for the Eagles, whose JV team won 5-4.

Niceville plays host Tuesday to Escambia.
