SWFD donates ambulance to DFS City Marshall's office
In the continuing effort of the South Walton Fire District to build partnerships and assist area public safety agencies the district donated a surplus ambulance to the Office of the City Marshal DeFuniak Springs Police.
City Marshall Mike Adkinson with the DeFuniak Springs Police requested the donation of the ambulance for a community project. The police are faced with many challenges in providing service to the community; with limited resources and an increase in demands for service, they look for creative ways to meet their needs.
The surplus ambulance will be used as a Community Service Unit / Mobile Command Post and will provide a asset for the department and citizens. The SWFD says they are pleased to be in the position to assist a neighboring public safety entity enhance the level of service they can provide their community.
The surplus ambulance was originally donated by Walton County to the SWFD when they began providing advance life support (ALS) transport service to the citizens and visitors of south Walton. SWFD Fire Chief, Rick Talbert says they feel it is only fitting they could extend the same opportunity to the Office of the City Marshal DeFuniak Springs in their effort to meet the needs of their community.
