Noise is everywhere
The arrest of Pandora's Manager Sat. April 25, is reprehensible. The arrest and harassment of restaurant managers has got to stop. Are we living in a police state?
There is a noise ordinance in effect. If the restaurants are in compliance with the noise ordinance, why are they being unlawfully arrested on a "disturbing the peace" warrant? This is a violation of the established rules.
For one unhappy person to have that much influence is threatening to all of our rights as citizens. If the noise level is in compliance, and you are disturbed, you should move away from all urban, resort, or congested areas. Motorcycles make much more noise than music - are they disturbing the peace? Leaf blowers make more noise than music - are they disturbing the peace? Are the church choirs next?
Music has been proved to enhance health, well being and peace. Anyone who has sat in church or a concert or listened to a band or any music knows this is true.
This unlawful harassment must be stopped now.

Selective scripture
With regards to Mike Porter's guest column responding to Ronnie McBrayer's column about baptism, I only have one word: WHAT?
I am a Christian, believe in God and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And I believe in the solemnity of the Word of God as told through the Bible.
But with all due respect to Mr. Porter, this type of presentation of God's word is more than likely the reason why more than 1,000 people are leaving the American Christian Church every week. And when asked the question of church affiliation, more than half of the population of this country will answer "none."
I just reread Ronnie's column, and although he did not mention a specific Bible verse, he did speak specifically of God's work and the importance of faith in Jesus Christ with regards to baptism.
Next time, maybe Mr. Porter can try not to be so critical of someone else's presentation of the Word of God. Because the Bible also says, "Judge not, lest ye be judged."
