Yvonne Forney Bowers
Yvonne Forney Bowers, 88, lost her fight for life on July 13, 2010, in Crestview, Fla. She was born on Aug. 3, 1921, in Baltimore to Libby and Abner Forney.
She married John Francis Bowers on Aug. 13, 1941, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westminster, Md., and traveled all over the world during his time in the U.S. Air Force. She and her husband came to Fort Walton Beach when he retired from the U.S. Air Force on Aug. 1, 1970. After her husband passed away she moved to Crestview to be with her daughter, Susan Conner, who preceded her in death in November 2009.
She is survived by her sister, Ada Noble of Hanover, Pa.; son-in-law, Billie Conner of Crestview; son, John Bowers of Hanover; grandsons, Johnny Bowers and Nathan Bowers of Hanover; granddaughters, Angie Veno of Southport, Fla., and Shana Conner of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandson-in-law, Mike Veno of Southport; great-granddaughters, Chelsey Williams of Jacksonville, and Kristyn Lovell and her husband Joshua Lovell of Freeport, Fla.; great-grandson, Josh Williams of Fort Walton Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 24 in Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. The family will receive friends starting one hour prior to the service.
