Freeport High School student recognized for volunteer service
FREEPORT – Jacquline Nicole Dykes, 18, of Freeport, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
The award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country. It was presented to Dykes by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
Dykes participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of Freeport High School where she is a student. She earned the award by participating in Freeport High’s teacher assistant program and other voluntary activities.
“My community service hours were earned mainly by teacher assisting at Freeport Elementary. I really love working with the younger children,” said Dykes.
“Nicole is an outstanding student and leader. She is a very busy young lady who is constantly giving of her time to help others. Freeport High is extremely proud of Nicole,” said Principal Michael Murphy.
The National Association of Secondary School Principals is proud to honor Nicole and all the thousands of high school students in America who give so much back to their communities.
