Gov. Robert Bentley (left) presents award to Frank Flautt and Robert Kamm of Sandcastle Resorts & Hotels.

Alabama Governor Dr. Robert Bentley recognizes Hilton Sandestin Beach for contributions

As a token of appreciation and gratitude for its $10,000 donation to assist supply victims of last month’s devastating tornadoes in Alabama, the state’s Governor, Dr. Robert Bentley, presented the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa with a Humanitarian Award on behalf of the Alabama Dermatology Society, one of the resort hotel’s longstanding clients.

The plaque was presented to Frank Flautt, co-founder of Sandcastle Resorts & Hotels, which manages the Hilton Sandestin Beach, and Robert Kamm, Sandcastle’s president and CEO, on June 25 at the Society’s Summer Symposium being held at the resort hotel.

Last month, the Hilton Sandestin Beach joined the efforts of the Destin United Methodist Church to supply storm victims with much-needed hygienic, health, and household essentials. Through the donation of $10,000 in Walmart gift cards, the Hilton Sandestin Beach gave back to a community made up of close friends, family members, and loyal guests and clients.

Such clients include Dr. Eric W. Baum, meeting director for the Alabama Dermatology Society, which has hosted its conferences at the Hilton Sandestin Beach for nearly 20 years and organized the plaque presentation and the Governor’s appearance.

“I felt it was necessary to honor such a special and altruistic group of people, who were kind enough to donate $10,000 for tornado relief efforts in our home state,” Baum said.

The plaque, inscribed with an outline of the State of Alabama, reads “Humanitarian Award to the Hilton Sandestin Beach with sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for your contribution to the Alabama Relief Fund” and is currently on display at the hotel’s lobby.

“For more than 27 years, Alabama has been very near and dear to our hearts, with thousands of families visiting us year after year and many large groups hosting their meetings and events here,” Kamm said. “We’re happy to know our donation helped many families in need and are humbled and honored to be recognized in this manner.”
