Holland signs with Bishop State baseball

Travis Holland, one of the area's top dual threats and one of its most dangerous long-ball threats, has signed a baseball scholarship with Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala.

Holland hit .320 with four homers and 18 RBIs for Choctawhatchee this season. He also was one of the Indians' top pitchers, compiling a 6-1 record behind a 3.53 ERA.

Holland was known for some of his prodigious home runs. A few that he blasted this season at Choctaw sailed over the trees that dwarf the right-field fence.

Holland was a Daily News honorable-mention All-Area selection this season.
