James Clifton Orsak
James was a loving and caring husband, father and friend to all. James was an active member of the community and devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was involved in projects which were beneficial to many.
James is survived by wife, Lois Hinze Orsak; children, Carol Ann Walker and husband, Scott Walker, and Stephen James Orsak and wife, Jennifer Orsak; two grandchildren, Abbey and Emma Grace Walker; as well as brother, Charles E. Orsak; sister, Linda Fitch; and five nieces and nephews. His parents were Charles and Justina Orsak.
James was born and raised in El Campo, Texas. After graduating from Texas A&I with a degree in engineering, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston, Texas, for 10 years, then transferred to the Atlanta Division, where he retired in 1996.
Shortly after retirement, James and his wife, Lois, moved from Marietta, Ga., to Freeport, Fla., where they built their dream home on the bayou. James was an avid fisherman who enjoyed boating out on the bay to view beautiful sunsets, jumping fish, birds and the occasional dolphin. Whether relaxing on his dock or the beach, James mostly enjoyed living, simply to be in nature.
James never missed an athletic event for his children and often enjoyed going to his granddaughter’s games as well.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. March 13 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Freeport. The reception will immediately follow at the Orsak’s home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to their beloved church, where James served on the Finance Committee: In memory of James C. Orsak, St. Rita Catholic Church (Christ the King Mission), 137 Moll Drive, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
