Prep Roundup (12/12)

The three-peat was sweet for the Niceville wrestling team.

Niceville breezed to a first-place finish 30 points clear of second-place Suwanee at the Capital City Tournament on Saturday.

It was the third straight Capital City title for the Eagles.

The Eagles notched two individual champions in Nate Hartley (171-pound class) and Brock Lamb (152). Hartley went 5-0 with four pins while Lamb went 4-0 and knocked off the state’s No. 2 wrestler in the title match.

Jacob Bagnall (130), Taylor Nixon (135) and Davey Jones (140) each made it to their respective title matches before bowing out.

South Walton came in 11th in the 28-team field led by Justin Dunwald (145), who won his class. Elsewhere for the Seahawks, Jay Gatto (152) came in fifth, Greg Felt (112) was third and Robert Felt (160) was sixth.

 

Boys basketball

 

l Choctawhatchee 66, Foley (Ala.) 45: The Indians made it a home-and-away sweep over Foley this season with the 21-point win.

Jonathan Bowman led with 16 points for the hot-shooting Indians (4-3), who host District 1-4A foe Gulf Breeze on Tuesday.
