Walton County Snowbirds: March 1

The March General Meeting will be held on Wednesday the 5th, 10 a.m., at the Destiny Worship Center (behind Taco Bell). The short business meeting will include the slate of officers for next season, final drawings donated by the local merchants, and the entertainment of the Snowbird Singers under the direction of Carol Addington.

The final golf scramble will be on Wednesday, March 5 at Adara. To find out if there are any cancellations for you to play, call Butch Niver, 837-4570.

The March playdays are Sunday, the 2nd at Adara; Thursday, the 6th at Bluewater Bay; Monday, the 10th at Windswept Dunes, and Tuesday, the 11th at Adara. For details, go to the Web site: www.waltoncountysnowbirds.com.

The final book review of the winter season is "The Memory Keepers Daughter" by Kim Edwards and will be held at the Beach Retreat Clubhouse, second floor, on Thursday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m.

The singles will be out to lunch following the general meeting on the 5th. The final cocktail party will be held on Saturday, the 8th, 4 p.m. with details available from Jeananne, 837-2568. On Sunday, the 9th, the group will be attending the Philharmonic of NWFL at the Village Baptist Church.

The storage drop off dates are every Friday in March from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Affordable Storage on Sugar Drive, which is the first street beyond Good News Methodist Church, east of County Road 30A, and on the south side. You must have membership in Walton County Snowbirds to be eligible to store your wares. Review the Web site for details of storage rates and container sizes. Remember to bring your membership card. Euchre winners on Feb. 10th were: Val Mac Eachern, 1st; Barb Wasnich, Mary Anne Grenier and Sally Carriere sharing 2nd place honors in the women's division. For the men, Ken Henning debuted with 92 points, followed by Wendell Wasnich with 91, and Frank Lawless and Steve DeMar rounding out the winners.

The next newspaper publishing will be the last of the season and for this writer. Brian Cosgrove, a seasoned newspaper contributor will handle the duties next year and serve as a valuable member of the Walton County Snowbirds Board of Directors as Information Officer. Welcome aboard, Brian.
