Woman arrested 16 months after alleged DUI

A 24-year-old Fort Walton Beach woman was arrested and charged with DUI 16 months after an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy pulled her over on Two Trees Road in Destin.

The sheriff's office had issued a Be-On-The-Lookout for a possible impaired driver on July 21, 2008 after the woman was seen speeding on Commons Drive.

A deputy spotted her and pulled her over. She told the deputy she had been sexually assaulted and was "visibly upset," according to her arrest report.

She also said she'd been drinking at Club Overboard and was "buzzed but not drunk," the report said. She told the deputy she did not want to get a DUI because she had a 3-year-old son.

She had difficulty standing and had to lean against her vehicle to keep from falling down, the deputy noted in his report.

She was taken to the hospital for possible sexual assault and, while there, voluntarily provided blood for a blood alcohol test. The results came back with a blood alcohol content of .192, which is more than twice the legal limit.

She was arrested Nov. 30, 2009. The report did not explain the 16 months that elapsed between the incident and her arrest.
