In praise of youth
At a very ripe old age, I love it when teenagers tell me what is wrong with the country. They offer us a perspective from their point of view that is as refreshing as a breath of spring air.
I find this particularly true of Matthew Christ. I truly look forward to his column every week just to see what he is going to discuss next.
No, I don't always agree with him and yes, his column is always interesting whether I agree with him or not.
I have been through all the problems the writer of a couple of weeks ago talks about and they are a fact of life. To say we cannot learn from the views of someone who has not yet been there is very shallow.
Matthew Christ, you do have much to learn but you are definitely on the right course. Stay that course and ignore those who would try to dissuade you from your thoughts and goals. As time goes on, there will be deviations from that course and possibly even large corrections. However, stay true to your learning and beliefs and continue to share your ideas and thoughts with those of us thoughtful and intelligent enough to appreciate them.
Keep up the good work, Matthew Christ. You are a bright light in our impression of today's teenagers.
