Free CD helps parents enforce Internet safety
Parents can go by the Walton County Sheriff’s main office located on Triple G Road in DeFuniak Springs - or the South Walton Sub-Station, Freeport Sub-Station or the Paxton Sub-Station - to pick up a free Computer COP CD.
This software lets a parent know if their child has gone to an inappropriate Web site or has posted private information on a Web site. The program has a library of words that will raise red flags for parents and will highlight them on the screen. It looks for anything violence, sex or drug related, including slang terms and their definition.
It includes tips for parents on setting up Internet usage guidelines for their children and technical information. There are also links to the Florida State registry of sex offenders, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.
