FEB 12: Walton Snowbirds
With the final registration date for Walton Snowbirds now well behind us many winter visitors are counting their remaining days as most of us are well past the halfway point in our homes-away-from-home for 2009. It would appear that registration numbers were down, but only slightly as the Panhandle cool definitely beat this year's northern winter blast.Carol Baumann would like to thank those who donated 19 pints of blood on February 4th. Carol had a very lucky day last Wednesday at the General Meeting winning a major door prize and a brand new bike in the Snowbird scholarship raffle. Hopefully Carol will be going to Biloxi on Wednesday with the Snowbirds.
A few tickets are still available for the Ladies' Luncheon on February the 26th. Golf Garden leagues are winding down with only two weeks left. Thanks to the organizers who sit through all kinds of weather then go home and tabulate all the results and handicaps. There is still room to enter the Eglin Scramble on Wednesday Feb. 18. Please call Butch Niver 837-4570 as soon as you read this as he must get the groupings to the golf course soon.
Do Butch a favour if you want to get in and take the entry fee to him personally as there is no more registration.Check our website at www.waltoncountysnowbirds.comto see the list of playdays that are still available. Remember all members of your group must be snowbird members so please have your card when you sign up.
Most of our golf courses have a dress code so please dress appropriately when attending these outings. Finally, in closing, remember that our organization is only as strong as its volunteers. It appears that there will be a need for many volunteers next year in several key positions. Please contact myself or any of the board members on the web page if you would like to get more involved with our Snowbirds.
