Prep Roundup (3/15)
It took the Baker softball team a little while to get going Monday, but once the Gators did they coasted to a District 1-2A victory.
Macie Wilde picked up the win and Mollie Royal collected three RBIs in Baker’s 11-0 victory over Ponce de Leon.
Royal had two hits and so did Lauren Griffith and Tuesdae Middlebrooks. Both Griffin and Middlebrooks drove in two runs as well.
Brittney Kilpatrick and Carly Barton added one hit apiece for the Gators (5-3), who play host to Freeport on Thursday.

Niceville 7, Ridgeland (Miss.) 0: Jessa Watts struck out 10 and only allowed one hit in five innings, while Correen Smith went 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the Eagles’ victory.
The Eagles opened the game up by scoring four runs in the fourth inning.
Haley Early had two hits and Sara Horell added a hit and an RBI for Niceville, which improved to 8-0 and plays host to Mosley tonight.

Bethlehem 16, Laurel Hill 10: Bethlehem pounded out 16 hits and took a 7-1 lead in gaining the District 1-A victory.
Brittany Baggett went 3-for-4 with two steals, Kasey Harrison was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Elizabeth Delduca had two hits and two runs.
Laurel Hill (2-3, 1-3) plays today at Paxton.

Baseball
Fort Walton Beach 8, Lee-Scott Academy (Ala.) 3: J.D. Little notched the win after pitching six innings, and Austin Sullivan struck out the side in the seventh in the Vikings’ victory.
Fort Walton Beach (4-2) scored three runs in the first inning and added two in the fourth to build a comfortable lead.
Blake Becnel went 2-for-3 with a double, Little had three RBIs and Brandon Horn doubled and drove in two runs.

Choctawhatchee 4, Lee-Scott Academy (Ala.) 3: Cody Brannen preserved the victory for the Indians by throwing a runner out at the plate after a single to end the game.
Cameron McNabb’s RBI single with two outs in the sixth inning was the difference. Luke Clark added two hits for Choctaw (5-5).
Miguel Paulino allowed two hits in earning the win and Robert Hartranft picked up the save.
Choctaw plays host to Boaz tonight.

Weightlifting
Gulf Breeze 69, Rocky Bayou Christian 18: Nathan McCullough and James Waldron both captured first places for the Knights.
McCullough won the 119-pound division by lifting a combined 220 pounds in the bench press and clean-and-jerk. Waldron topped the 183-pound class by lifting 560 pounds, and Dale Linder was second in the 238 class after lifting 440 pounds.
Rocky Bayou’s next meet is Thursday at Fort Walton Beach.
Baker 54, Jay 35: The Gators tallied seven wins in defeating Jay.
Jourdain Sanguyo (119-pound class, 310 pounds lifted), Jacob Ates (129, 375), David Frey (154, 435), Dakota Hooper (169, 545), Jacob Lawson (183, 480), Nathan Pfrimmer (199, 490) and Cameron Campbell (219, 400) all won.
Track and field
Recently at Pace’s Patriot Invitational, Paxton’s Erin Walker set a new meet record in the discus by throwing for 130 feet, 10.75 inches.
