Two Arrested in Connection With Deer Slaying
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen announced the arrest of two Bay County men Thursday on charges related to the killing of an Axis Deer on privately owned, high fenced property Sunday night.
On Monday, the Sheriff's Office received a report that a fence had been cut, and an animal possibly shot and removed from the property.
On Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office was contacted by Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, saying they had received information on suspects in case.
Through investigation conducted by the Bay County Sheriff's Office and FFWCC, Brent A. Enfinger, 25, of 6914 E. Highway 388, Youngstown, was identified as a suspect.
Enfinger was interviewed and during the interview provided information which led to the recovery of the head and meat of the animal. He was charged with Grand Theft and Injuring A Fence Containing Livestock.
Through subsequent investigation, Billy R. Thompson, 39, of 13333 County Road 2301, Youngstown, was also identified as involved in removing the animal from the property. Thompson was also interviewed about the case, and taken into custody. Thompson was charged with Grand Theft and Trespassing.
Both Thompson and Enfinger were transported to the Bay County Jail where they will make a first appearance.
The Investigation is ongoing at this time and more charges are expected.
