Rachel Mosley went 2-for-4, while Emily Wilson and Hailey Johnson each had RBI doubles to lead the Rocky Bayou Christian softball team to a 10-6 home win over Paxton on Thursday.
The loss was the Bobcats’ first in district play, as they fell to 5-1.
Rocky Bayou (3-2, 3-2) jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Paxton scored in the top of the fourth. The Bobcats scored four more in the fifth, but didn’t have enough offense to mount the full comeback.
The Knights play today at Bethlehem.

Niceville 8, Milton 1: Correen Smith went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Shannon Brinkley launched a home run as Niceville cruised past Milton to remain perfect on the season.
Brinkley also drove in a pair of runs as did Kaylan Davis, who did so on a two-run home run. Kelly Hensley went 2-for-4 with a double.
Niceville (10-0) returns to District 2-5A play Tuesday when the Eagles host Fort Walton Beach.

South Walton 9, Cottondale 0: Shelby Watson struck out 14, allowed just one hit and connected for a home run of her own to help the Seahawks remain unbeaten in District 2-2A.
Mackenzie Watson collected three hits on the day and Sam Snider and Alex McManus each finished with two hits apiece. South Walton (12-1, 10-0) travels to Freeport today.

Laurel Hill 20, Poplar Springs 0: Kasey Harrison picked up the win and also went 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs in the District 1-A blowout.
Jessica Gortman went 3-for-4 with two runs, Elizabeth Delduca had two hits and three runs, and Jessica Thorton and Brittany Baggett each had two hits and two runs.
Laurel Hill (3-4, 2-4) plays Tuesday at Bethlehem.

Tennis
The Fort Walton Beach tennis teams fell to Mosley, losing 6-1 on the boys’ side and 5-2 on the girls’ side.
Andrew Decotis teamed with Howard Hennessey to earn a doubles victory for the boys, while Phillyn Frederick won a singles match for the girls and Dani Adams and Stephanie Pridgen combined for a doubles victory.
Choctaw swept its matches with East Hill Christian as the Indians took a pair of convincing 7-0 wins on both the boys’ and girls’ sides.
Ara Walker, Jordan Coker, Will Boyt, Brandon Jowers and McKennon Griffin all won for the boys.
Kingon Walker, Emily Bennett, Jessica Sauvageau and Melynda Bradley won for the Choctaw girls. Emma Michenfelder teamed with Sauvageau in the No. 2 doubles to help the Choctaw girls complete the sweep of East Hill.
The Crestview and Navarre tennis teams split a match, with the Bulldog girls winning 6-1 and the Raider boys winning 4-2.
Jackie Hammers, Brooklyn Howard, Sydney Pinkert and Brittany Didonato all won in singles play for Crestview while the teams of Howard and Moya Moore and Hammers and Pinkert were victorious in doubles play. Leah Rojecki notched a singles win for Navarre.
On the boys’ side, Navarre got singles wins from Justice Cox, Ryan Couch and Chris Lewis while Conner Brantley and Cox teamed for a doubles win. Capturing singles victories for Crestview were Blake Ritchie and Paul Tilley.

Walton suffered a pair of setbacks against Pensacola Catholic, as the boys fell 5-2 and the girls were blanked 7-0. The losses dropped Walton’s boys to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in District 1-2A while its girls are now 2-5 overall, 2-2 in district play.
Walton’s lone wins came courtesy of Curtis Miller’s win in singles play and the junior’s teaming with Luke Andrews for a win in doubles.
Walton travels to Arnold on Monday.

Track and field
Crestview’s boys parlayed a clean sweep in the relay events into a win at a tri-meet with Niceville and Walton on Thursday, as the Bulldogs breezed by the Eagles by an 82-60 margin to win the meet. Walton placed third with 23 team points on the boys’ side.
Niceville (83 points) won on the girls’ side with Crestview (37) and Walton (24) finishing second and third, respectively.
In the boys’ events, Chris Pickett (high jump, 5-8), Kenny Born (400, 52.2), Spencer Anderson (110 hurdles, 15-5) and Jacob Gourlie (1600, 4:47) each won their individual events for the Bulldogs before Crestview won in the 4x800 relay (9:03), 4x100 relay (43.3) and the 4x400 relay (3:43). Darius Madison won the triple jump (38-10) for Crestview.
Niceville’s Charlie Tidwell won both the discus (149-0) and the shot put (50-2). Cody Skarupa won the 300, and Kody Williams won the long jump (21-1) and Jason Riggs won the 3200 (10:45).
On the girls’ side, Lauren Eschbach paced the Eagles with wins in the discus, 800 (2:30) and the 1600 (5:25). Marsel Mosley finished first in the triple jump (30-5) and 3200 (12:59).
Crestview received a trio of first-place finishes from Asten Lopez, as the sophomore won the 200 (26.8), the 100 (12.8) and the long jump (15-6). Crestview also turned in a blistering time of 50.91 to win the 4x100 relay. Niceville (4x800) and Walton (4x400) also won in the relays.
Crestview will host the county meet on Tuesday.
Weightlifting
Fort Walton Beach 60, Rocky Bayou Christian 20: The big-school Vikings were able to sweep the match with the small-school Knights.
Tallying first places for Fort Walton Beach were Cody Sprouse (119-pound weight class, 370 pounds lifted), Seth Bowling (129, 400), Alfred Seabrook (139, 445), Steven Petrucci (154, 480), Tommy Bowling (169, 580), Tae King (183, 590), Jon Castro (199, 575), Carl Blanco (219, 645) and Oshkin Bulutoglu (238, 550).
Rocky Bayou’s Joey Halus placed second in the 129 class (270), and James Waldron placed second in the 183 class (555).
