Medical pioneer recognized

Walton County Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. has recognized a medical pioneer here in Northwest Florida for his strong commitment to law enforcement.  Sheriff Adkinson presented Dr. James H. Thompson of DeFuniak Springs with a plaque symbolizing the physician's support for the Florida Sheriff's Association over the years.

At the plaque presentation, Sheriff Adkinson said, “Thank you Dr. Thompson, for your time and effort in emphasizing your generous support of law enforcement not only in Walton County, but across the state.”

Dr. Thompson has been a fixture treating patients across the Florida Panhandle and Southeast Alabama since the 1950's.

Dr. Thompson says the plaque signifying Healthmark Regional Medical Center's Gold Business Membership with the Florida Sheriff's Association will display prominently in the health care facility.
