Man arrested after high-speed chase
A 32-year-old man was arrested Saturday and charged with fleeing from police in a high-speed chase.
A deputy recognized Charles Jame Rhodes as he came out of the Walmart, according to an arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy knew Rhodes had a revoked driver license, the report said.
He attempted to pull Rhodes over, but Rhodes sped up to 80 miles per hour, according to the report.
White smoke came from his tires as he rounded the first curve, the report said.
The deputy lost Rhodes, but went to a house where Rhodes had fled to before. A pick-up truck was leaving the residence, but the occupants said they hadn't seen Rhodes.
Shortly after, a deputy pulled over the pick-up truck and found Rhodes in the bed.
Rhodes was charged with fleeing from police with disregard to the safety of persons and driving with a suspended license.
He was being held in the Walton County Jail on $15,000 bond Wednesday night.
