Walton's assistant county administrator charged with battery (ARREST REPORT, MUG)
SANTA ROSA BEACH — Gary Mattison, assistant county administrator in Walton County, was arrested Saturday night on misdemeanor battery charges.
Mattison, 65, of Miramar Beach, is accused of punching and shoving his wife to the ground in the parking lot of Bayou Bill's restaurant in Santa Rosa Beach, according to a Walton County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m.
Mattison's wife told deputies, "I don't know why he hit me," and suffered a cut above her left eye and an abrasion to her left knee, according to the report.
Walton County Spokesman Ken Little said Mattison is still employed with the county. He said he had not spoken to the county administrator about the incident and needed to look into the county's police on misdemeanor offenses by employees.
