Adventure Club

•July 24: Kayak/canoe trip on Coldwater Creek, north of Milton. Rentals available. A portage fee will apply to those bringing their own kayak/canoe. Meet at 10 a.m. at the building where you pay for rentals/portage. Bring water and a picnic lunch. Must call 301-9452 to RSVP.

•July 27: Bike ride on Navarre Beach. Meet at 8 a.m. at the parking area near Sailors Grill Restaurant. Bring a picnic breakfast for after the ride. Call 581-4591.

•July 29: Bike ride in the Valparaiso area. Meet at 5 p.m. at the strip mall at the intersection of Hwy. 85 and John Sims Boulevard. Supper after the ride at a nearby restaurant. Call 897-6756.

•July 31: Kayak/canoe trip on the upper section of the Blackwater River, from Kennedy Bridge to Peaden Bridge. Meet at 10 a.m. at the small park at Cotton Bridge, about 4 miles west of Baker. Bring water and a picnic lunch. Must call 301-9452 to RSVP.

Amateur Radio Club

The Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club of DeFuniak Springs/Walton County meets at 6:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month at McLean's Restaurant near I10 and 331 South. This club welcomes new and old Ham Radio operators. There are no business meetings on these Tuesdays. We have classes and a great time together. Call 892-2562 or e-mail kj4jah@arrl.net.

Habitat 101 meeting

If you are in need of a safe, simple, decent home or know someone else who is, you are invited to attend Habitat for Humanity’s upcoming orientation meeting. Interested families will be provided with the information needed to apply for homeownership in Walton County. Attendance at an orientation meeting is mandatory in the application process. You will be given all necessary information about the Habitat program and receive an application at the meeting.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Freeport Community Center. Call 835-0067.

Herman Lodge

Herman Lodge #108 Free and Accepted Masons will meet at 7 p.m. first and third Tuesdays of each month on Madison Street in Freeport. Call 835-2314.

Eastern Star

The Order of the Eastern Star #281 meets at 7:30 p.m. the first and third Fridays of each month at Herman Lodge on Madison Street in Freeport. Call 835-2314.

New SHRM Chapter

A new Society of Human Resource Management Chapter in Walton County will meet at 8 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at TJ’s Table in Freeport.
