Adventure Club

•Aug.  29: Kayak/canoe trip on Juniper Creek in the Blackwater River State Forest. No rentals available. Meet at 9 a.m. where the creek crosses under Red Rock Road about 3 miles from the intersection of Munson Hwy./Hwy. 191 and Red Rock Road. Bring lots of drinking water and a picnic lunch. •Sept. 4: Bike ride in Milton on the Blackwater Heritage Rails-to-Trails path. Meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead behind the Truly Spokin’ Bicycle Shop on Hwy. 87 North. Lunch at a nearby restaurant. Call 499-4404.

•Sept. 5: Bike ride on Pensacola Beach and enjoy the free Bands on the Beach concert after the ride. Bring a picnic supper and folding chair for the concert. Meet under the beach ball looking water tower. Call 377-4676.

•Sept. 9: Bike ride in Destin in Kelly Plantation. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the golf course clubhouse parking area. Late breakfast/early lunch at a nearby restaurant. Call 301-9452 or 974-9591.

•Sept. 18: Bike ride in Niceville. Meet at 9 a.m. at Guiseppi’s Restaurant and Marina on Bayshore Drive. Lunch after at a nearby restaurant. Call 897-6756.

•Sept. 21: Bike ride on Navarre Beach. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the parking area near Sailors Grill Restaurant. Bring a picnic breakfast for after the ride. Call 581-4591.

•Sept. 23: Bike ride on Scenic 98 in Destin. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Baptist Church on Matthews Boulevard. Early lunch at a nearby restaurant.  Call 581-4591.

The Walton County DEC will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the FootSeas Medical Clinic, 650 US Hwy. 331 South in DeFuniak Springs. All Democrats are encouraged to attend. Call 687-7655 or 974-2071.

Amateur Radio Club

The Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club of DeFuniak Springs/Walton County meets at 6:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month at McLean's Restaurant near I10 and 331 South. Garden Club

The DeFuniak Springs Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 in the Life Enrichment Center, 312 College Ave., for a plant swap. A light lunch will be served. The public is invited. Call 892-3119.

A new Society of Human Resource Management Chapter in Walton County will meet at 8 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at TJ’s Table in Freeport.
