Adventure Club

•Sept. 4: Bike ride in Milton on the Blackwater Heritage Rails-to-Trails path. Meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead behind the Truly Spokin’ Bicycle Shop on Hwy. 87 North. Lunch at a nearby restaurant. Call 499-4404.

•Sept. 5: Bike ride on Pensacola Beach and enjoy the free Bands on the Beach concert after the ride. Bring a picnic supper and folding chair for the concert. Meet under the beach ball looking water tower. Call 377-4676.

•Sept. 9: Bike ride in Destin in Kelly Plantation. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the golf course clubhouse parking area. Late breakfast/early lunch at a nearby restaurant. Call 301-9452 or 974-9591.

•Sept. 12: Kayak/canoe trip on Coldwater Creek from Hwy. 4 to Jernigan  Bridge near the Equestrian Center in the Blackwater River State Forest at 9 a.m. Bring lots of drinking water and a picnic lunch. For directions and information, call 301-9452 or 516-9038.

•Sept. 14: Bike ride in Gulf Breeze at 4:30 p.m. and enjoy the free Bands on the Beach concert after the ride. Bring a picnic supper and folding chair for the concert. Call 377-4676.

•Sept. 16: Bike ride in the older section of Destin. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Clement Taylor Park on Calhoun Avenue. Early lunch/late breakfast after the ride. Call 301-9452 or 974-9591.

•Sept. 18: Bike ride in Niceville. Meet at 9 a.m. at Guiseppi’s Restaurant and Marina on Bayshore Drive. Lunch after at a nearby restaurant. Call 897-6756.

•Sept. 21: Bike ride on Navarre Beach. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the parking area near Sailors Grill Restaurant. Bring a picnic breakfast for after the ride. Call 581-4591.

•Sept. 23: Bike ride on Scenic 98 in Destin. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Baptist Church on Matthews Boulevard. Early lunch at a nearby restaurant.  Call 581-4591.

•Sept. 25: Bike ride in Pensacola in the Navy Point - Pensacola Country Club area. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Food World on Barrancas Avenue. Lunch at a nearby restaurant.  Call 499-4404 or 581-4591.

•Sept. 28: Bike ride on Pensacola Beach and enjoy the free Bands on the Beach concert after the ride. Meet at 4:30 p.m. at the public parking area across from the Portofino Condo Complex, at the east end of Pensacola Beach. Bring a folding chair and picnic supper for the concert. Call 377-4676.

•Sept. 30: Bike ride in Niceville in the Bluewater Bay-Parkwood area. Meet at 4 p.m. at the Winn Dixie on Hwy. 20. Supper at a nearby restaurant. Call 897-3624.

 

Friends of Scenic 30-A

The Friends of Scenic 30-A and The 30A Foundation, Inc. will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach.

 

Amateur Radio Club

The Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club of DeFuniak Springs/Walton County meets at 6:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month at McLean's Restaurant near I10 and 331 South. This club welcomes new and old Ham Radio operators. There are no business meetings on these Tuesdays. We have classes and a great time together. Call 892-2562 or e-mail kj4jah@arrl.net.

 

Garden Club

The DeFuniak Springs Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Sept. 8 in the Life Enrichment Center, 312 College Ave., for a plant swap. A light lunch will be served. The public is invited. Call 892-3119.

 

Friends of the Walton County Animal Shelter

The first public meeting of the Friends of the Walton County Animal Shelter will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 in the Freeport Community Center. Call 231-6038.

 

Community meeting 

The City of DeFuniak Springs will hold a meeting for the public to view lighting options for the Lakeyard from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Chautauqua Building, 96 Circle Drive in DeFuniak Springs.

 

Meditation Society
The Emerald Coast Meditation Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at 480 N. Co. Hwy. 393 in Santa Rosa Beach. Speaker will be Ron Frazer, who will compare Buddhist and Christian teachings that say similar things. Delta Delta Delta

Retired Officers Wives Club

New SHRM Chapter

A new Society of Human Resource Management Chapter in Walton County will meet at 8 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at TJ’s Table in Freeport.
