Investigations into burglaries
DeFuniak Springs Police were dispatched Friday afternoon, Oct. 23, 2009, to a Bay Avenue residence in regard to reported theft. The complainant, David Peterson, reported that a white male had knocked on the rear door of the residence, seeking shelter from the rain. When asked for a towel, Peterson left the room, at which time the visitor took a wallet from the top of a desk and ran from the home. Upon investigation, it became known that the assailant was Ricky Gene Canull.
After questioning, Canull was arrested on charges of theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. He was transported to the Walton County Jail for booking and arraignment.
