Prep Football Capsules (Nov. 6 games)

Prep Football Capules (Nov. 6 games)

TATE (5-3, 2-2) at NAVARRE (2-6, 1-3)

Navarre could play a spoiler here. Tate is still in the District 1-4A playoff hunt and must win to have a shot at the postseason. So, the Aggies will no doubt be motivated. If the improving Raiders win, they’ll have a great shot at finishing 4-6, not bad for a team that opened 0-5.

Last week: Tate defeated Escambia 35-26; Navarre lost 21-7 to Pace.

Last season: Did not play.

JAY (1-6, 1-6) at BAKER (0-8, 0-7)

Both of these teams are hungry for success. Jay’s only won once, Baker is still winless. And these two are fierce rivals who would like nothing more than to extend the other’s disappointment. Forget the records and embrace the intensity level in this one. It should be off the charts in this District 1-A battle.

Last week: Jay lost 28-7 to Bozeman; Baker lost 36-14 to Freeport.

Last season: Jay won 41-21.

Radio: WTJT-FM (90.1)

FAMU (3-5, 2-1) at ROCKY BAYOU CHRISTIAN (0-8, 0-3)

Six of the Knights’ eight losses this season have come at home, so Rocky Bayou will hope to close out the home portion of its schedule on a positive note. It will be incredibly difficult against District 1-B foe FAMU, a perennial lower classification power that’s already locked up another playoff berth. Also, FAMU can’t be too happy after suffering a 62-42 loss to Jefferson County last week that ended its bid for a district title.

Last week: FAMU lost 62-42 to Jefferson Co.; Rocky Bayou lost 59-12 to Graceville.

Last season: Did not play.
