LETTER: Hey, sore losers, president bashing is not a patriotic duty
My conservative friends are suffering.
Oh, you know who you are, agonizing over the direction this country is being led by an untrustworthy president you don't think won the election fair and square.
“His policies are scary,” they say. “It’s like Nazi Germany and his actions abroad are an embarrassment to the entire nation.”
Oh, I KNOW the pain these poor people are in.
I felt the SAME WAY, saying the EXACT same things for eight years under George W. Bush. Only when I, like many others, said back then that the wars Bush was leading us into were wrong, and the debt he was building up for future generations was too oppressive, conservatives in general answered back that if anyone didn't like it we should just get on a plane with Jane Fonda and get the heck out of this country!
Even if someone didn’t like the man they should respect the office he held.
Now these same Republicans consider president bashing a patriotic duty. They have disrespected Obama so much that school children were not allowed to hear his back to school speech.
They don't care if they have their facts right; indeed the conservatives are hostile to intelligence, calling folks that have it elitists.
Court jesters like Beck and “Limpbaugh” and Palin are their idols because they glamorize “willful ignorance,” as writer David Sirota calls it.
President Obama was handed a big mess to clean up ten months ago and although everything isn't perfect, it is a lot better than if we had another four years of Republican ineptitude and greed ruining this country.
If you don't like it, you can just go dunk your tea bags in the Gulf and wait for the oil rigs to be built off shore.
