Just like Vietnam
Letter to the Editor: Nov. 15
By the first day of the 2008, my hope was that Americans had finally acknowledged how wrong they were with their deplorable treatment of veterans of the Vietnam War. DeFuniak Springs Herald reporter Leah Stratmann on would have us believe that stateside during that time, there existed “an ideological war.” I believe her attempt is to give credence to the behavior of those gutless masses that lacked the courage to confront their government, instead taking comfort in dumping vitriol on the U.S. military.
On Nov. 4, I witnessed a return to that unconscionable opinion as America chose for a president, an individual who has never served a minute in defense of the USA and is known to consort with terrorists (William Ayers, Rashid Kalidi, Hamas, Hezbollah, et al). I suggest that veterans of the War on Terror have been told, by the results of the vote, a majority of Americans have now turned their back on them. Their efforts to defend the Constitution of the US “against all enemies, foreign and domestic” were in vain.
